​Introduction

华裔移民家庭在为有特殊需求的孩子争取合适的特殊教育计划时,往往面临诸多困难。这些困难不仅体现在语言和文化的挑战,还包括对特殊教育法规、术语和与学校沟通方式的了解不足。此外,因语言和文化差异,家长与学校之间的沟通容易产生误解,导致孩子无法获得最适合的教育计划。因此,我们创建了这个资源库,希望为华人特殊教育社区提供支持和帮助。

Chinese immigrant families encounter significant challenges when advocating for appropriate special education plans for their children with special needs. These challenges extend beyond language and cultural barriers to limited knowledge of special education laws, terminology, and effective communication practices with schools. Moreover, language and cultural differences can lead to misunderstandings between parents and schools, which may prevent children from accessing the most appropriate education plans. To address these issues, we have established this resource hub to support and empower the Chinese special education community.
